Interview: Get familiar with Jason Hodges

We sit down with Jason Hodges for our ‘Get Familiar’ Series as we shotgun some questions his way to get a peak into how inspirations, introduction to the culture and his start in the music world!

Q1. When and where did you find house music?

A1. I discovered house music while at my grandparents house way back in 1989-90. They had a really high end AV receiver that picked up a local university radio station. So one day, i was flippin’ through the radio dial and discovered a show playing on this station mid afternoon, really cool music called house and was hooked from that point on.

Q2. What DJ made you want to be who you are today?

A2. Toronto was influenced big time by the NYC sound/scene so any of the NY dj’s were an influence to me but it was Louis Vega who made me wanna do this

Q3. When was your first dj set under this moniker?

A3. My first major club gig as Jason Hodges was at a place called 23 Hop in Toronto. That place was the bees knees, soo much fun.

Q4. What is your go to piece of kit?

A4. Well my go to piece of gear has always been my SP 1200 as well as the MPC
